Dear Corrigan Camden Community,
We have received reports that one of our educators has engaged in inappropriate
communications through social media with students at our District.
The safety and protection of our children is our single highest priority. We take these
reports seriously and since receiving the reports, the District has taken the following steps:
● Removed the individual from the classroom and all education settings while the District
investigates the reports.
● Reported the information to theCorrigan Police Department and began actively
cooperating with the Police Department in an investigation they have launched.
● Reported to Texas Child Protective Services.
● Coordinated with the High School Administration to ensure that the educator does not
come to campus.
● Began an internal investigation of this individual’s contact with students.
● Reported the allegations and District’s investigation to the State Board of Educator
Certification.
Both the Corrigan Police Department investigation and District’s internal investigation are still in
their early stages, but we assure you that the District is taking and will take appropriate action in
accordance with Board policies. We want to be transparent with our community and realize it
would be helpful for families to know specifically which educator is involved. But we also want to
respect due process as the review and investigation continue; therefore, we are not releasing
the name of the accused individual.
If you have children currently enrolled in Corrigan-Camden High School, please speak
with them to ascertain whether an educator has ever engaged in communications with
them either online or in person that made them feel uncomfortable. If your child is aware
of any such communications, we would appreciate learning more about those
communications. You can report any concerns you may have to Mrs. Karis Watson, High
School Principal at kwatson@ccisdtx.com or 936-398-2341, to share any information you have.
We will make counseling available, for those who request it.
